Spring is my absolute favorite season. Everything is blossoming and blooming, coming to life. Truly a beautiful time to be outside (except for the horrible allergies that come with spring). The weather is perfect to enjoy lunch or a cocktail on a downtown patio with girlfriends. And it’s not too hot, yet.
Aside from the blissful weather, spring gets me so excited because of the FASHION!
To say I love fashion would be an understatement. Along with writing, fashion is one of my true passions. Finding inspirations, experimenting with pattern mixing, and combining classic pieces with modern styles are the looks I really enjoy creating. And hats. Hats are my absolute favorite accessory. Anyone who knows me can tell you 3-4 times out of any given week, I’m wearing a hat. And my hat collection is ever growing. They aren’t for everyone, but they are definitely part of my signature style.
As I was doing my spring cleaning, I noticed that I have a few outfits that I wear on repeat. Of course, I am always trying out new styles, but there’s something oh-so-comforting about the tried and true. And I always seem to receive tons of compliments when I wear these styles. It’s probably because I feel most confident and myself in those outfits.
I’m in the process-the long, grueling process-of attempting to digitize my closet. Daunting task, I know. I hope to get it done by the end of the year; it is just so tedious. But I did begin the process, and I am using Polyvore. To be honest, I was really unfamiliar with the website and just wanted something user friendly. I’ve had the app for about two days now, and I’m not disappointed. I started by uploading three of my go-to spring outfits. I took the time to find my exact pieces on the app or clothing that was very close, in look and price point, to what I currently have in my closet.
I thought I’d share these with you all and tell you why I love them.
Hands down this is my number one spring outfit. A well-fitted black maxi dress is a staple piece in my closet, and it’s always in heavy rotation. The versatility of a basic black maxi is endless. I almost always style it as shown: cognac accessories, glasses, and of course my signature fedora. Throw on a statement watch and you’re ready to take on the day. This look is so effortless, but reads as chic and timeless.
Spring=Color. I’ll admit I am not a fan of wearing bright colors. My palette of choice includes neutrals and blacks. But if there is a time to wear bright colors, it’s spring. Keeping true to my love of maxis this outfit is sassy and playful. It also gives the perfect island vibe. If you were to go through my photos over the last 3 years, I’ve worn this outfit in various colors and combinations on more occasions than necessary. It’s just so fun!
My last spring go-to is called: This Probably Makes Me Look 19, But That’s Okay Because I’m So Comfortable. Can’t go wrong with shorts and an over-sized-off the shoulder lightweight sweater. Throw on the world’s most comfortable shoes and you’re set. Side note: Those of you on the fence about Converse Shoes- DO. IT. I bought my first pair of Pink Chucks my senior year of high school, and I still have them. They are still in wonderful condition. And I wear them often. That was $45 well spent.
As I keep cleaning out and organizing my closet, outfit by outfit, I’ll share any other creations I think you’ll enjoy. All of these looks are super easy and spring friendly. I bet you already have most of these pieces in your closet. 🙂
